And my mother, she didn’t have the money to send me where all the American kids went to school, but she thought it was important for me to keep up with an American education. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself, Monday through Friday. But because she had to go to work, the only time she could do it was at 4:30 in the , as you might imagine, I wasn’t too happy about getting up that early. And a lot of times, I’d fall asleep right there at the kitchen table. But whenever I’d complain, my mother would just give me one of those looks and she’d say, "This is no picnic for me either, buster." (Laughter.)So I know that some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But I’m here today because I have something important to discuss with you. I’m here because I want to talk with you about your education and what’s expected of all of you in this new school at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the best schools in the world -- and none of it will make a difference, none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities, unless you show up to those schools, unless you pay attention to those teachers, unless you listen to your parents and grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed. laid-off workers, typically regarded as the victims of economic advancement, are subject to desperation that being unmeployed has brought on them. but, encouragingly, we have witnessed some of them striving hard to rebuild confidence toward life and discover new opportunities for demonstrating their values.

although we cannot choose our appearance, inborn gifts and even avoid unexpected disasters and adversities, we do have the privilege to choose to live optimistcally,to love our lives, to have dreams, and to cherish hopes.

every morning when we get up, we have a choice of how we want to approach life that day. as for me, i choose to be cheerful.

I Regain Confidence

I received a devastating blow to my self-confidence in the first interview of my college years. I applied to be a host in our Student Acting Troupe and felt confident that I would be accepted. But one of the panel members told me: "You seem inadequate and you are a little vertically-challenged." My life has never been the same since. I used bigger heels to complement my height and psychological maneuvers and tricks to hide my lack of confidence. But no matter how hard I tried to look the part, there was still something missing.

As president of English Club, I organized the rehearsal of Snow White for an English party. Unfortunately, we could not find an actor to be the last dwarf. It had to be someone who was humorous by nature and fluent in English. Suddenly, all eyes turned to me, and I knew I would have to be the dwarf. To my great surprise and delight, once on stage, I was totally absorbed in the performance and my humorous nature was put to full use. As the dwarf, I was a big hit.

Yes, each of us is only one among millions of others, but each of us is an individual and each of us is unique. Cultivating our individuality will transform our lives, making of them a kaleidoscope of new colors and textures.

A world deprived of diversity would be a bland and boring place. The real tragedy is not being short or shy or ugly, but having your identity lost in a world in which everyone is a clone of a model cool boy or a flawless charming girl.

Given a choice, I would rather be ugly than live in such a world. I'd rather be a genuine dwarf accompanying a Snow White than be a Snow White among nothing but Snow Whites. I would rather be myself. I would contribute my individual and unique colors to create a more diverse universe. Please, be yourself.

The second one is smiling can make you seem successful. (Smiling people appear more confident, are more likely to be promoted, and more likely to be approached. Put on a smile at meeting and appointments and people will react to you differently.) I once read a story. A salesman tried his best to sale things but always failed before. Then he learned how to smile. He smiled all the time and others felt he was so kind and his smile was so attractive that they all wanted to buy his things. Finally, the man became successful.

The third one is that smiling can make us happy and relaxed when we are sad or stressed. When you smile, the world in your eyes is better. For others, smile can make others feel comfortable and relaxed and they will like you.

A saying goes: “life is a mirror, if you smile to it, it will smile to you.”

Give losers a smile that is encouragement; Give the sad one a smile that is comfortable; Give a smile that the weakness is courage; Give a smile that the happiness is shared.

So no matter you are happy or sad, do it now. The power of a smile is large. It can make all of us feel happy including yourself. Smile to the world, to others and to everything.

I think the creativity roots in imagination. Albert Einstein said that imagination is important than knowledge. Because we should creative a thing that is never appeared, we need to image. Use all the things and information around us to think and then go to achieve it. Without the imagination of the Wright brothers , human could not complete the flying dreams. Without the imagination of the Alexander Graham Bell, we could not hear the voice from a distance. If the creativity can make the human progress, imagination will be the road to success. Where the imagination come from? Knowledge ? Experience ? practice? I consider that all of them are indispensable. It is often said that knowledge is power. So we should empower ourselves with knowledge. After that we need to obtain experience form. practice. These are the basis, and we must strengthen them to extend our imagination.
